Renew America's Schools Program

APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

THE PRIZE (PHASE 1) APPLICATION DUE May 20th, 2024

The West Virginia Office of Energy (WVOE) is preparing a package to participate in the 2024 Renew America’s Schools Prize. The Prize will fund energy efficiency and renewable energy projects at public K-12 schools to lower energy costs and improve indoor air quality. This funding opportunity is coming through the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) State and Community Energy Program (SCEP) which is a part of the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by Congress.

The 2024 Renew America’s Schools Prize consists of three phases. Phase 1 is a prize competition which is described in more below and consists of developing a portfolio of a minimum of 10 schools interested in implementing energy improvements. WVOE is accepting applications from public West Virginia K-12 schools to build a portfolio for this Prize.

Upon award of this Prize, WVOE will move into Phase 2 and will provide the schools included in the portfolio energy technical assistance and audit services to identify energy efficiency projects at their facilities. In Phase 3, WVOE will provide technical and financial assistance for implementing the necessary activities for the identified energy projects.
